Adaptive Hiking

Recently our Social Events Director David Yerks-Young went on his first adaptive hike through Carizzo Canyon in Palm Desert, California with a diverse group of people sponsored through My Recreation District. 

The Guides were quite attentive to their hikers which included the visually impaired, blind, and autistic community. One such hiker was also an amputee.

Besides physically helping the hikers walk over uneven terrain, over or around rocks and boulders, they used descriptive words to help in navigation.
